Overview

Below is just about everything you need to know about our Children’s Ministry here at Sovereign Grace Church. Please make sure to read over the policies and highlights. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the church office.

Curricula and Activities
Our goal is the same for all ages—to model and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that commends faith in Him. Our lessons exalt God as great and almighty. We direct children to the Bible as the authoritative, infallible and all-sufficient Word of God. We emphasize man’s sinfulness, his need for a savior and Christ’s redeeming work upon the cross. Class materials are age appropriate.

Safety and Security
We desire to ensure the safety and security of all people attending Sovereign Grace Church. This emphasis impacts our Children’s Ministry in many ways, from our policies for screening workers, to facility design, to hallway monitors who serve each week. We trust you agree this is an important starting point for a ministry devoted to caring for children.

Registering New Students
New children must be registered. This process takes just a few minutes, allowing us to collect pertinent information and to answer your questions. The Children’s Ministry Registration Table is located in the main lobby and opens at 9:30 a.m.

Class Assignments and Promotion Schedules: Infants through 5 years old are assigned to a class based on age and advance to the next class on their birthday. Children older than five are assigned based upon their school grade level (grades 1-6). These students advance at the start of the school year in September.

Drop-off and Pickup
Parents take children to class. The nursery through 2-year-old classes open at 9:45 a.m. All other classes begin at approximately 11 a.m. (during the break). Teachers greet students and parents return to the main meeting. Only parents, siblings 13 years or older or adults assigned by a parent may pick up a child, and that person must present the family ID card. Classroom maps and procedures are posted throughout the facility.

Sickness
Children who have been sick within the preceding 24 hours, showing symptoms of cough, fever or runny nose (not due to allergies) will not be permitted to participate in Children’s Ministry. These children can stay with a parent in the main meeting.

Parent Emergency Notification System
An emergency notification system quickly and discretely alerts parents when their child requires attention. The child’s identification number (located on the security name tag) is displayed on the overhead screens in the main auditorium.

Code of Conduct
We preach and live a gospel for sinners, not perfect parents, children or teachers. However, we maintain a basic code of conduct for all. Workers should serve humbly, considering others more important than themselves. Parents should submit to requirements, decisions and policies of the ministry. Children should humbly submit to the delegated authority of teachers, helpers and other workers in the ministry.

We will work to ensure that grace characterizes all of our labors. We respectfully ask that any worker, parent or child unwilling to agree to this code please refrain from participating in our Children’s Ministry. Any questions should be directed to a pastor.

Incident Reporting
In the event of an injury or accident, we provide the care necessary to assist the person affected. We will then take action to inform parents and remedy the problem. Any documentation that results from an incident will also be shared with the parents.

Parents can assist us by identifying any issues they or their children observe, so we can take appropriate action. Please contact a teacher, an administrator or a pastor.

Lost and Found
Articles left in the building are placed into Lost & Found. Items are retained for a one-month period before they are discarded or donated to charity. Lost & Found is located in the main lobby storage closet. Please contact the church office for further assistance.
